Year 2

Year 2 have been learning about the Arctic. We enjoyed using the computer programme where we could be ‘World Explorers’ and discover facts about the Arctic for ourselves.

We have all written a story about a journey in our Special writing books. We have to write independently and you can read Ritchie's story about a journey into the Jungle:

One Saturday morning I put my necklace around my neck and wished I could go to the jungle. Next I was in the scary jungle and I saw a tiger coming towards me. So I was very scared. Then I ran away and he chased me. Soon I saw a big tree so I climbed up it. Later on when the tiger had returned to the jungle I climbed down the tree and went home because I touched my magic necklace.

We also enjoyed writing an explanation about ‘How to catch a fierce creature’. We invented lots of traps and drew diagrams and wrote an explanation about why our traps worked.

It is our literacy target to write with correct punctuation, use time connectives and keep writing in the same tense.

It was great fun learning our 2x, 5x and 10x tables and now it is our target to learn the division facts as well. Click on the web link and play games to help you practise your times table facts:
